McCordsville’s Tonya Galbraith Named 2017 Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award Winner

by Aim Admin | Oct 11, 2017 | Awards, Media, Members, Press Release

EVANSVILLE – McCordsville Town Manager Tonya Galbraith received the 2017 Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award from Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim). Galbraith received the award on Wednesday, Oct. 11, during the Presidents’ Reception at the Aim Ideas Summit.

Galbraith has served as McCordsville’s town manager since 2005 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the town and implementing the decisions of the Town Council. During her tenure, the town’s population has grown from around 1,200 residents in 2005 to more than 5,400 today. Galbraith is a Credentialed Manager through the International City-County Management Association and serves on the ICMA Welcome Ambassadors Committee. She is also a past president of the Indiana Municipal Management Association. Galbraith’s wealth of knowledge shines through in her work, having spent her entire career working in either state or local government.

In addition to her town responsibilities, Galbraith is a member of the Aim Executive Board, as well as the organization’s legislative and environmental policy committees.

“Elected and appointed municipal employees are dedicated to their communities and work countless hours to make them the best they can be. The Lloyd award honors those who do so for their community, as well as all Hoosier cities and towns. I’m thrilled for Tonya to be recognized for her decades of commitment to Indiana municipal government,” Aim CEO Matt Greller said.

The Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award, named for former Evansville Mayor Lloyd, is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to local government. Nominees for this prestigious award must display accomplishments beyond their community, including contribution to Aim and public service, leadership and personal initiative.

In its 41st year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Umbaugh, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement. A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
