Municipal Finance Officers Association

Created in partnership between Aim and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Municipal Finance Officers Association (MFOA) provides education and networking for appointed fiscal officers for Indianapolis and second class cities (in Indiana, a second class city has a population between 35,000 and 600,000 at the time of designation, and has a nine-member city council and an elected clerk).

Through the MFOA, Aim members can access GFOA resources. A trusted information source for municipal finance officers, the GFOA provides timely practical educational programs, professional publications, and up-to-date information on best practices. The GFOA offers the following to public-sector finance professionals:

  • How-to instruction on a wide range of financial topics
  • Enhancing technical skills
  • Broadening knowledge and deepening expertise
  • Achieving professional recognition
  • Coordinating efforts with colleagues
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Networking with peers

Members also enjoy many opportunities to participate in continuing professional education training that fosters their professional growth and career advancement.
