Kokomo’s Greg Goodnight Named 2018 Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award Winner

by Aim Admin | Oct 4, 2018 | Awards, Media, Members, News, Press Release

FRENCH LICK – Mayor Greg Goodnight of Kokomo received the 2018 Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award from Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim). Goodnight received the award on Wednesday, Oct. 3, during the Presidents’ Reception at the 2018 Aim Ideas Summit.

Goodnight, elected as Kokomo’s mayor in 2007, has lead his community through multiple natural disasters and a national economic crisis that significantly impacted Kokomo.  His focus on quality of life improvements and innovation have made him a trusted advisor among his peers.  In addition to his commitment to Kokomo, the mayor has participated as an active member of Aim, serving as President in 2016.

“Seeing Mayor Goodnight receive this honor was truly special.  The mayor is as dedicated as they come and has boundless enthusiasm for the work he does on behalf of Kokomo.  He knows every nook and cranny of his community and is as comfortable talking about wastewater or sidewalks as he is talking census data, employment figures, or critical statewide legislation.  Mayor Goodnight is a public servant in every sense of the word.” Aim CEO Matt Greller said.

The Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service Award, named for former Evansville Mayor Lloyd, is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to local government. Nominees for this prestigious award must display accomplishments beyond their community, including contribution to Aim and public service, leadership and personal initiative.

In its 42st year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Umbaugh, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement. A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
