VIDEO City of Rushville Honored with Community Placemaking Award

by Aim Admin | Oct 3, 2018 | Awards, Legislators, Media, Members, Press Release

FRENCH LICK – Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) announced today the City of Rushville has been named a 2018 Community Placemaking Award winner in the 2,000 – 10,000 population category.  The City will receive its award during the Aim Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the 2018 Aim Ideas Summit in French Lick.

The City is being honored for the transformation of two vacant downtown lots into a vibrant multi-use space.  The space acts as a Farmer’s Market, community gathering point, parking lot, public art display, and permanent home to Heart of Rushville – the local Main Street organization.

“Placemaking isn’t just a buzzword, it’s what economic development is all about.  It’s been exciting to see what Rushville has been doing in recent years, including their cool, multi-use Farmer’s Market project.  Rushville’s leaders definitely understand the importance of creating quality places where people want to be!” said Aim CEO Matt Greller.

In its 42nd year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Umbaugh, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement.  A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
