EVANSVILLE – Accelerate Indiana Municipalities (Aim) announced today the Town of Plainfield has been named a 2017 Municipal Innovation Award winner for its 30,000 – 60,000 population category. The Town will receive its award during the Aim Annual Awards Luncheon presented by Umbaugh, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the 2017 Aim Ideas Summit in Evansville.
The town was honored for their creation of an Economic Improvement District as a means for facilitating cross-county transit options for workers commuting in across county lines. The North Connector and South Connector transit systems help Plainfield employers stay properly staffed and help the town attract new employers to the area.
“New and existing employers want a solid transportation network in order to attract a talented workforce. The kind of collaboration and creativity shown by the town of Plainfield and their partners is a model for those facing similar challenges,” said Aim CEO Matt Greller.
In its 41st year, the Aim Annual Awards program, presented by Umbaugh, recognizes communities and individuals in municipal government for excellence and outstanding achievement. A nine-member panel of qualified judges selected this year’s winners from a competitive field of nominees from around the state.
